Mike Schwartz, Chair

Mike was elected to the School Board in 2005. He has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard and is currently earning a Doctoral Degree at UNH with a focus in Education Policy and Leadership. Mike is the principal of Community & School Partners leading initiatives at the NH Department of Education. Mike, and his wife, Sharyn, a professor at UNH, have two daughters ages 5 and 9. They enjoy the wonderful town of Rye, its residents, and seaside beauty.

Peggy Balboni, Vice Chair

Peggy was elected to the School Board in 2006. She has a Masters in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has been actively involved in Rye Schools for over 11 years including the SAU-50 Professional Learning and Curriculum Committees. Peggy and her husband, Jeff, Have four children, who are in 4th and 7th grades in Rye Schools, a son who is a freshman in high school, and a daughter who is a sophomore in college.

Jeanne was elected, for the fourth time in 2008. She previously served on the School Board from 1996 to 2005 and is also a former PTA President. She is married to Ken, a retired Rye Firefighter and has four children, all of whom attended Rye Schools and Portsmouth High School. Jeanne, too, is an alum of RES and RJH. She also has five grandchildren with two currently enrolled at Rye Elementary School.

Kirsti was elected to the School Board in 2010. She has a Masters in Math Education from Albany University. Kirsti and her husband, Bill, have three children, who are in 3rd, 5th and 7th grades in Rye Schools. She and her husband own and run a small business in Portsmouth, NH.

Maggie Duffy-Durkin

Maggie was elected to the School Board in 2010. She holds a Masters of Science in Adult Education with a focus on Training and Development. Maggie has twenty-one years of experience in the field of education including five years teaching and coaching at the high school level. During the past sixteen years she has been working at Great Bay Community College in various capacities. She is currently the director of the TRiO student Support Service program as well as a core adjunct instructor in teambuilding, Essential College Skills and College Success Seminar. Maggie and her husband Dennis have two children who have been in Rye Schools since kindergarten and are now in 7th and 8th grades. Their older daughter will attend Portsmouth High School in the Fall.
